Pro-tips How to Use All About Ingredients
CC PRO-TIP
Gold Standard is…well our gold standard chemical exfoliator. To acclimate your skin to the glycolic acid, add a small drop with your favorite hydrating serum and mix well during your night routine. Adjust dose gradually. Light stinging initially is normal, but too much means the concentration is too high!
UNEVEN SKINTONE
A thorough exfoliating game plan is a crucial part of your pigmentation-fighting strategy! With 30% glycolic acid and 5% tranexamic acid, try incorporating this as a weekly rinse-off mask to boost the efficacy of your brightening routine.
Love your glycolic acid but have a patch of compromised skin? Protect sensitive zones with a dab of a balm (*check out our Balm Voyage for ideas) before using Gold Standard to prevent irritation.
The Gold Standard AHA
Glycolic acid is the smallest and most effective molecule in the AHA family. The small stature means that much more exfoliating power – but that can also mean a chance of irritation. Trying to find your personal Goldilocks “just right” concentration can be frustrating.
This is where Gold Standard comes in. Try Glycolic acid your way.
Scenario 1: a true booster
Acclimating to glycolic acid? Want to try to incorporate it into your daily routine? Try mixing a drop of Gold Standard with your favorite soothing serum. Put your serum in hand first, add gold standard (we dub this the gold standard sunny-side-up look), mix well in hand, then apply to face. You can do this every day or every other day as your skin gets used to it. Increase the size of the Gold Standard droplet to suit your skin needs
Scenario 2: once a week power mask
Gold Standard can be used as a once a week chemical peel rinse-off mask. Apply a thick layer all over, let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse off with water. Light stinging, in the beginning, is normal.
Please be mindful of daily sunscreen habits while you’re using any AHAs.
What makes it the “Gold Standard”?
30% Glycolic Acid: Glycolic acid is the smallest molecule of the AHAs (chemical exfoliant alpha hydroxy acid) family. Its small stature means it penetrates much better than its counterparts for smoother, brighter skin. Acid newbies and sensitive skin types beware! More effective also means a higher chance of irritation. Check out Baby Steps PHA/AHA for Sensitive Skin if you feel Gold Standard is too strong for you.
5% Tranexamic Acid: This molecule was first used as an oral medicine to treat excessive bleeding. Researchers noticed an overall brighter complexion in patients, and now is a go-to ingredient to tackle pesky hyperpigmentation, giving our Gold Standard an “oomph!” in brightening power.
Dimethyl Isosorbide + Ethoxydiglycol: skin-friendly solvents that improve penetration of glycolic acid and tranexamic acid for enhanced efficacy.
It’s called the Gold Standard for a reason!
